City Life in Minneapolis: Don’t Miss These Stops Along The World’s Largest Skyway

The Minneapolis Skyway saves the day in wintertime, but it’s fabulous all year round. It’s always fun to walk high over the bustle of the city below.

And it’s sweet to move in sheltered, air-conditioned comfort from hotels to restaurants, from business towers to the shopping mall.

State Theatre
The State Theatre of Minneapolis first opened in 1921 as one of the world’s most technologically advanced in its class. Catch a musical or a band, at 805 Hennepin Ave. Great after shopping and dining at Nicollet Mall, which is connected to everything else on 11 miles of downtown Skyway.

Bep Eatery
The fill-your-own-bowl-style lunch spot does pho, banh mi, and all the Vietnamese classics with plenty of veggies to fuel your noontime power walk. You have a choice of two Skyway locations now: Fifth Street Towers or Lasalle Plaza.

Simpls
Healthful eating on the go is the idea at Simpls. And Prohibition’s kombucha on tap? Wow! Two locations, open ’til 6PM: 601 Marquette Ave, Suite 210, and 950 Nicollet Mall, Suite 205.

Bonus Find: Herbivorous Butcher

If you search online reviews for the best butcher near the Minneapolis Skyway, you run into this fascinating offering right in the top three: Herbivorous Butcher. No kidding: they butcher plants! Check it out, at 507 1st Ave NE.
